Tuning Guitar

Guitar Tuning means prepare the guitar to play. Generally guitar has 6 strings. From top of the guitar strings named as follow.

According to this chart you can see how the guitar is tuning. You must remember carefully E 6th is the low note and E 1st is the high note. Between this two strings tone frequencies are increasing ascending.

Few methods to tune a guitar 

Method 01:  You can use a electronic tuner to tune a guitar. When we touch the string the tone frequency detect by the tuner and show it. Then we can change the string tune using tuning key on the top of the guitar neck. This is a very easy method to tune a guitar correctly. A sample guitar tuner is following.


      


Method 02: You can tune a guitar using a keyboard. Touch a key you want and listen carefully. Then tune a string as you want. In this method you must have a correct and well identification ability a tone. 

Method 03: If you can recognize tone frequency correctly you can use this method. First tune E 1st string using any equipment. Then touch the 5 th fret in B 2 nd string. Then pick E 1st string and B 2nd string. Hear carefully both tone frequencies. Tune the B 2nd string using the tuning key to become same frequencies both strings. Then touch the 4 th fret of G 3rd string. Pick it with the open B 2nd string. Compare these two tones as below and tune G 3rd string. 

As below steps you can tune other strings. Tune 5 th fret of D 4th string to open G 3rd string. Tune 5 th fret of A 5th string to open D 4th string. Finally tune 5 th fret of E 6th string to open A 5th string.

Guitar Scales

Not only the guitar but also music depend on music scales. Music Scales create from formulas. Mainly Scales divided in to two categories. They are MAJOR SCALES and MINOR SCALES. Every scale include 7 notes.

Major Scales create as below.
2 tones + 1 semitone + 3 tones + 1 semitone

Example:   If "C Major" scale creates as this.

C   D   E   F   G   A   B

In this "C" is the main tone. 
"C' + 2 tones = C D E. 
"C D E" + 1 semitone = C D E F

According to the above formula we can create the Major scale what we want. 

Minor Scales create as below.
1 tone + 1 semitone + 2 tone + 1 semitone + 2 tones

Example:  If "C Minor" scale creates as this.

C   D   Eb   F   G   Ab   Bb

In this "C" is the main tone.
"C" + 1 tone = C D
"C D" + 1 semitone = C D Eb

According to the above formula we can create the Minor scale what we want.

Guitar Notes

Guitar player must need to know these notes. Notes created by semitones.

C      C#      D      Eb      E       F      F#      G      Ab      A      Bb      B
1        2        3       4       5        6       7        8        9      10      11      12

Music create these 12 notes. Main notes are C,D,E,F,G,A,B. From the main note decrease a semitone called FLAT (Sign- b). Increasing a semitone from a main note called SHARP (Sign - # ). So we can understand how create 7 notes to 12 notes. Every song, solo, music parts create only these 12 notes. Guitar players must know these notes correctly. Then we can play well.

Guitar Fretboard

Guitar Fretboard dividing with fret dividers. A fret means a semitone. Most guitars have 21 frets. Some guitars maybe change. The player must touch hardly on a fret he wants. The tone quality becomes with players touching strength and correctness. 



For example, commonly the first string open note is "E" (From the top of the fretboard). Then the next tone is "F". You can understand it correctly using this image of a fretboard. Players must remember the notes correctly. It's very important to play correctly.

Guitar players hand

Guitar player need both of hands. Usually left hand use to touch strings and the right hand use to picking.  Some players change their hands. Here is a picture your finger labled.

Both of left hand and right hand fingers nust be a very strong and can be control. Specially what hand you use to touch the string it must be controllable easily. Unless you cannot play the guitar well and you cannot control the correct note. 

We must careful to touch the correct string of the guitar. Usually guitar has 6 strings. If you hit the first string you must touch the first string on the other hand. So you must improve your playing skill by increasing practice time. Then you can be a clever guitar player.

Electric Guitars

Electric guitars, introduced in the 1930s, rely on an amplifier that can electronically manipulate tone. This guitar model has tone amplifier circuits. When we touch the string of a guitar ,that circuits improve the tone loudness. Then we can attach a tone modulator to the guitar and change the tone. Presently most musicians use an electric guitar because of the tone changeable a  ability. Guitars are recognized as a primary instrument in genres such as blues, bluegrass, country, flamenco, jazz, mariachi, metal, reggae, rock, soul, and many forms of pop.

There are three main types of modern acoustic guitar: the classical guitar (nylon-string guitar), the steel-string acoustic guitar, and the arch top guitar. The tone of an acoustic guitar is made from vibrating a string. Most commonly guitar use 6 strings and they are made from nylon.
