 Headstock 

Headstock located at the end of the guitar fretboard. Tuning keys placed in this area. Tuning keys use to change the tension of the strings. They use to adjust the tone pitch of strings. Traditionally there are 3 tuning keys in a side of the headstock and 3 keys placed on the opposite side of the headstock. However, some guitars do not have headstock. In this guitars tuning keys placed on the body or the bridge of the guitar.

 Nut

Nut located in the headstock. Nuts are made by using bone, plastic, brass, stainless steel or other medium hard materiel. Nuts use to joint the fret board and the headstock together. Nut use to another purpose, which to place in the correct position of the strings. Nut use the correct measurement to place the correct position. Nut has a groove to place the string. On the other hand nut use to prohibit the incorrect vibration of strings. That means when the nut made use correct width and height, that is the reason to prohibit the useless tone generating. Simply the nut is the main thing to keep accurate distance among a fret and a string. 

 Machine Heads

Machine heads means tuning keys. Tuning keys use to change the tension of strings.  That is changing the accurate pitch of strings is the main character of machine heads. Machine heads made by using bone, brass, stainless steel, plastic or other materials. The other duty of machine keys is holding strings. 

 Fret Board

Fret board also called Finger Board. Fret board made by using piece of woods. It embedded with metal frets from the beginning and to the end of fret board. Guitar frets divide in to 2 main categories according to  the design. On the classical guitars fretboard is flat. And on the acoustic and electric guitars fretboard is slightly curved crosswise. Guitar fretboard measured by the fretboard radius.  Every segment divided by using metal materials, called frets. Most modern guitars using 21 frets or 24 frets.

Guitar Chords Basic

Guitar chords mean playing other than one note. It means make tones other than one string. Simply guitar chord is a collection of notes that create according it's main guitar scale. These notes are created using the guitar scale notes.

For an example:

"C Major chord" creates using "C", "E", "G" notes.
"C Minor chord" creates using "C","Eb","G" notes.

Basically chords divided into two main categories. They are MAJOR CHORDS and MINOR CHORDS.

Major Chords:

Major chord is a main category of music. Usually major chords use to create a happy noise. It means when we feel happy any part of a music, that time we use major chords. Major chords create according the formula below.

Main note + 5th semitone + 8th semi tone

Example:

C Major chord = C + 5th semitone + 8th semitone

=C E G  


Try to create other chords using following formula.

Minor Chords:

Minor chord also a main category of music chords. Usually minor chords use to create a sad feeling. When we want to play a sad music part that time we use minor chords. Minor chords create according the formula below.

Main note + 4th semitone + 8th semi tone

 Example:

C Minor chord= C + 4th semitone + 8th semitone

=C Eb G

Try to create other minor chords using following formula.

Guitar Picking

Guitar Picking is very important to play guitar well. Using correct guitar picking technique increase picking speed and picking hard. Picking hard useful to make tone quality. And speed picking is useful to play guitar well. Guitar pick means what we use to touch a guitar string. Generally it made by Nylon mixed plastic.

                    

Here is sample guitar picks. We can select a correct guitar pick using it thickness. Guitar pick thickness measure in millimeters(mm). Generally we use 60mm pick to play acoustic guitar.

Correct guitar picking technique is picking up and down. Picking up and down increase picking speed. Using metronome is very important to increase correct picking and correct speed of guitar picking.

Tuning Guitar

Guitar Tuning means prepare the guitar to play. Generally guitar has 6 strings. From top of the guitar strings named as follow.

According to this chart you can see how the guitar is tuning. You must remember carefully E 6th is the low note and E 1st is the high note. Between this two strings tone frequencies are increasing ascending.

Few methods to tune a guitar 

Method 01:  You can use a electronic tuner to tune a guitar. When we touch the string the tone frequency detect by the tuner and show it. Then we can change the string tune using tuning key on the top of the guitar neck. This is a very easy method to tune a guitar correctly. A sample guitar tuner is following.

      

Method 02: You can tune a guitar using a keyboard. Touch a key you want and listen carefully. Then tune a string as you want. In this method you must have a correct and well identification ability a tone. 

Method 03: If you can recognize tone frequency correctly you can use this method. First tune E 1st string using any equipment. Then touch the 5 th fret in B 2 nd string. Then pick E 1st string and B 2nd string. Hear carefully both tone frequencies. Tune the B 2nd string using the tuning key to become same frequencies both strings. Then touch the 4 th fret of G 3rd string. Pick it with the open B 2nd string. Compare these two tones as below and tune G 3rd string. 

As below steps you can tune other strings. Tune 5 th fret of D 4th string to open G 3rd string. Tune 5 th fret of A 5th string to open D 4th string. Finally tune 5 th fret of E 6th string to open A 5th string.
